The best al pastor tacos in Austin, Texas and questions to ask before dining.
Is it in a gas station, does it look a little bit sketchy, are they absent on social media, are the tacos at or under $2 each? If you answered yes to these questions then you are making the smartest decision as a taco consumer. Today’s savvy customer should know that the best taco joints break rules that most restaurants diligently follow- they’re too busy perfecting their craft to worry about ambiance or marketing.
My favorite taco place so far is Taqueria #3 La Escondida Mexican Food. It’s housed in what used to be a Dunkin Donuts, it’s too bad they don’t use their drive-through window. And the building is encased in metal bars and surrounded by giant trucks with bumper stickers like “my other car is an even bigger truck” and “you bet I have a conceal carry license” (just kidding, but I wish).
Anyway, skip straight to the tacos and get the al pastor. Smother it in spicy green sauce, which won’t even be spicy because the taco is literally dripping in fat. A squeeze of freshly cut lime tops it off and you’re welcome, this is the best taco place in Austin.
